Two bedroom, two bathroom house set in the heart of the pretty little village of Mairena. High in the Alpujarras, surrounded by wonderful scenic countryside, this house has been completely rebuilt to a very high standard in the traditional style and is new and not yet lived-in. Featuring chestnut beams throughout and an open fireplace, it is very well insulated and has central-heating and double glazing, making it cool in the summer heat and cosy in winter. The large wooden “stable” style front door opens onto a tiled hallway leading to a double bedroom with built-in wardrobes and separate bathroom with bath and toilet. Tiled stairs lead to first floor living and dining area with separate fully fitted kitchen with marble working surface. On the second floor, accessed by tiled stairs from the living area, is the second double bedroom with fitted wardrobes and separate shower room and toilet. The second floor landing also leads to the roof terrace, adorned by a 100 year old grapevine, and with panoramic views over the mountains all the way to the Mediterranean sea. Mairena is a warm and friendly village where newcomers are always made very welcome. A bar and several small supermarkets are a short walk from the front door. The house is situated just off the church square where parking is always available and where vans deliver fresh bread on a daily basis and fish and vegetables 2 or 3 times a week. If more facilities are needed, the bustling market towns of Ugijar and Valor are a 15 minute drive away on good roads. The house, furnished as seen, would make an ideal home or holiday home to happily "lock up and leave". Mairena is also home to the Casa Rural "Las Chimeneas" which has an excellent restaurant. It also hosts cookery holidays as featured in the BA inflight magazine of July 2011.
